The government has decided to ensure vaccination of all students before opening colleges and universities for in-person academic activities, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam has said.
“Educational institutions will reopen as soon as possible under favorable conditions, and if the students of colleges and universities are vaccinated,” he said after Monday’s cabinet meeting at the Secretariat.
“The renovation of residential halls of colleges and universities has already started,” he added.
Earlier this week, the Education Ministry announced that all educational institutions – from primary to higher education – would remain closed until May 29.
In the wake of the spread of Covid-19 virus in March last year, the government shut down the country's educational institutions.
