Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said that the government has distributed around 2.95 billion free textbooks among pre-primary and secondary level students in the last 10 years.
She confirmed this while addressing the Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday.
“The government distributed over 2,950,120,784 textbooks among pre-primary, primary, ibtedayee, secondary, dakhil, dakhil [vocational] and SSC [vocational] students free of cost from 2010 to 2019,” she said.
Replying to a tabled question from treasury bench lawmaker M Abdul Latif, Dipu Moni also said that the government has distributed around 10.7 million instruction modules among teachers from 2010 to 2019.
"The government has included pre-primary students under the free textbook program from the 2014 academic year," she further informed the House.
