HSC, equivalent examinations begins Monday

1,351,309 students expected to sit for the exams

The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), and its equivalent examinations, under ten education boards across the country, will begin from Monday.

A total of 1,351,505 students from 9,081 educational institutions will take part in the exams. Of them, 664,496 students are male, and 687,009 female, confirmed an Education Ministry official on Sunday.

“The routine of the examinations were published, and is available on the website of the Education Ministry,” said Ziaul Haque, chairman of Dhaka Education Board, on Sunday.

Of the total 1,138,747 students sitting for the exams under eight education boards, 124,264 are under the Technical Education Board, 88,451 are Alim examinees under the Madrasa Education Board, and 43 are under the Diploma in Business Studies Board.

The exams will be held in 2,579 centres across the country.

Also, 275 students from eight overseas centres will sit for the exams.

The written exam will end on May 11 and the practical exams will commence on May 12 and completed on May 21.

Students, who are differently abled, will get extra 20 minutes to take their exams; while students with autism will be given extra 30 minutes.

Examinees must enter the examination halls 30 minutes prior to the starting of exams.

If anyone fails to show up on time, they will have to write down their name, roll number and provide an explanation for the delay, before they are allowed inside the centres.

The government has already taken proper measures, including shutting down all coaching centres across the country, to prevent question leaks.

Earlier, coaching centres were instructed to remain shut from April 1 to May 6.

At exam venues, only the centre secretaries will be allowed to carry mobile phones, these must be cell phones without internet and camera functions.
