She received her prize from Crown Prince of Dubai Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the patron for the award.The winner was announced from the International Space Station via video.
Shahanaj was born in a remote Bangladeshi village to two primary school teachers. While many children in Bangladesh drop out of school in order to support their families through earning, the dropout rate was vastly reduced by Shahanaj’s teaching methods that emphasised technology and multimedia applications.
