BRACU team set for Shanghai regional round of Hult Prize 2017

The Hult Prize 2017 challenge, titled “Refugees - Reawakening Human Potential,” is an initiative of the Hult Prize Foundation, a start-up accelerator for the social business ideas of budding young entrepreneurs, giving away $1 million to winners as seed capital. As the Hult Prize @ BRACU winner, the four member team, “Resurgence,” will compete in the regional final in Shanghai on March 3-4 this year. A total of 48 university teams from across the world will compete for a spot and a chance to pitch their idea at the Global Finale of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York later in 2017, a press release from BRACU said on Thursday. Resurgence consists of BBA students Rafayet Khan, Ivana Murtaza Asfara and Naziba Naila Wafa and economics student Mashiyat Rahman. The students’ adviser Mahreen Mamoon will accompany the team. On December 1 last year, Resurgence was awarded the Hult Prize 2017 @ BRACU and given seed capital of Tk1 lakh, sponsored by City Bank Limited for the BRACU winner. Resurgence is a Dhaka-based social business which seeks to provide sanitary products made from the water hyacinth.
