Three physically challenged students attend SSC exams

Sources said Tafsir and Parveez, two blind students of Victoria College and Kanij Fatema, a blind student of Maleka High School in the district town, took part in the SSC examinations at Nawab Faysunnesha Government Girls’ High School centre yesterday. The trio appeared in the exams from humanities section. Syed Mosharaf Chowdhury, invigilator at Nawab Faysunnesha Government Girls’ High School centre, told the Dhaka Tribune that physically challenged Fatema, Tafsir and Parveez took part in the first exam of SSC examinations 2017 at his centre. He said: “They are talent and very meritorious.” Invigilators and others officials of the centre along with the teachers of the two institutions are hopeful that the three will pass the examinations with good results. Abdul Majeed, education officer of Comilla District Secondary Education, said: “Some 183,724 students are appearing in the exams under Comilla Board where three of them are blind. Physically challenged students were given 20 minutes extra time while autistic ones got 30 minutes.” “Physically challenged students were also given copy-writers,” he said. The SSC and its equivalent examinations of 2017 began yesterday across the country with 17,86,613 students appearing from 28,344 institutions. For the first time, the answer sheets were provided 30 minutes before the scheduled time at all 3,236 centres. The results will be published by 60 days after the completion of examinations.
