DUJA celebrates 32nd anniversary

Leaders and activists of the Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA) on Tuesday brought out a procession to the university campus, marking the 32nd anniversary of the organisation. The rally, led by DUJA President Forhad Uddin and General Secretary Forrukh Mahmud, started from the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of DU and ended at the same location after parading through the streets of the university. DU acting vice chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, DU Teachers Association President Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, General Secretary Prof Rahmat Ullah, Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan, DUJA founding member Khairuzzaman Kamal,  Jatiya Press Club Joint Secretary and DUJA former general secretary Eleas Khan were present at the parade, among others. Earlier, a cake was cut in honour of the occasion at the TSC, where former and present members of DUJA got the opportunity to speak to one another. Praising the important role of campus reporters, Prof Akhtaruzzaman said: “The Dhaka University Journalists' Association has been working to uphold democratic practices. Campus reporters always work for the glory of the university and we hope this will continue in future.” “The organisation has worked and will do its duty with objectivity always, under any government,” he added. DUJA president Farhad Uddin said: “Young journalists are playing an important role in accelerating higher education of Dhaka University”. “Hopefully, they will do their job in helping build up the nation with their writer ups,” he added. The Dhaka University Journalists' Association began its journey with only 13 young reporters on September 19, 1985.
