Despite having passed a decade and performing satisfactory results, Dhopakhali Technical and Business Management College in the college is yet to get the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) facility.
As per the MPO scheme, the government pays half of the salary the staff of any private educational institution get to promote education across the country.
Consequently, 11 teachers and other personnel of the college have been passing their days amid miserable condition with the poor salary the managing committee pays although it has fulfilled all criteria for the MPO enlisting.
It was learnt that Dhopakhali Technical and Business Management College had been established in Dhanbari upazila in 2003 and it started academic activities with 60 students since 2005.
Since then the college was on the trend of making good results and finally it saw a 97% pass rate in HSC examinations this year.
The college’s Librarian Taposi Rabeya sorrowfully said they have been deprived of government allowance for a decade and she has been passing a tough time with the meagre salary to run the livelihood of her family.
Besides, Lecture Ahsan Habib echoed the voice of Taposi.
Dhopakhali UP Chairman Kamal Hossain Talukder Minto said the MPO enrolment is crucial for the college for the sake of the education in the locality.
Dhopakhali Technical and Business Management College Principal Sajal Kumar Sorkar said: “We have been compelled to pass a miserable life with the poor salary despite performing marvellous results each year and it is really regrettable. I am urging the state authorities upon enlisting the college under the MPO soon.”
When contacted, the college’s Managing Committee President and also Dhanbari Upazila Nirbahi Officer said:“The college performs very good results every year and that is why it deserves MPO facility. Necessary steps will be taken with the help of local MP to ensure the advantage as early as possible for the college.”
