A large gathering of worshippers was seen at mosques across the capital, including the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, on the occasion of Jumatul Wida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.
Worshippers from different parts of the capital flocked to mosques in groups to take part in the Jummah prayers marking Jumatul Wida.
At Baitul Mukarram, the mosque was filled well before the scheduled prayer time. Many worshippers later offered prayers in rows on adjacent roads and open spaces. Similar scenes were observed at nearly all mosques across Dhaka.
As the last Friday of Ramadan holds special significance for devout Muslims, the day once again turned into a major religious congregation, as it does every year.
In the Friday sermons, imams emphasized internalizing the teachings of Ramadan, attaining taqwa, and embracing the spirit of equality. Following the prayers, special supplications were offered seeking peace and prosperity for the country and the nation, as well as the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
