A fire that broke out in the Korail slum in Dhaka was fully extinguished after 16 hours, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department.
The agency confirmed on Wednesday at 9:30am that the fire had been completely brought under control.

The Fire Service said that no casualties were reported. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage will be determined following an official investigation.
Meanwhile, the residents affected by the fire spent the night in open areas such as T&T Field and Khamarbari Field.
Local resident Farhad Hossain said: "Many houses were burned here. At least two thousand people were affected and had to spend the night under the open sky. There is little that can be done for so many people, but we are doing whatever we can locally.”

The fire at Korail slum was initially reported to the Fire Service at 5:22pm on Tuesday.
19 units of the Fire Service responded in succession and after five hours of effort, brought the fire under control around 10:35pm.
The agency later confirmed the fire was fully extinguished at 9:30am on Wednesday.
