Police have recovered the body of a student from East West University, located in Dhaka’s Aftabnagar area.
The deceased student has been identified as BM Mushfiquzzaman, 20, a second-semester first-year law student at the university.
According to Badda police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habibur Rahman the student reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the university campus roof.
The body was retrieved on Thursday at around 4pm from the space between the Dr Faras Uddin Building and the main building of the university, he said.
Police later sent the body to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
When asked about the cause of death, OC Habibur Rahman said: “We suspect it is a suicide. CCTV footage from the university shows the student jumping off the roof.”
