Update : 11 Jul 2025, 11:03 PM

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight bound for Kathmandu, which had been delayed due to a bomb threat, finally departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport approximately four and a half hours later.

The flight left the airport at 9pm on Friday, confirmed Rowshan Kabir, spokesperson for the airline’s Public Relations Department.

According to sources, Biman flight BG-373 had completed preparations for departure to Kathmandu on Friday afternoon.

At that time, an anonymous phone call was made to the ATC tower, claiming that a bomb was onboard.

Upon receiving the information, the tower immediately notified the flight’s pilot, who swiftly maneuvered the aircraft to the runway of Terminal 3.

The matter was subsequently reported to various law enforcement agencies, who promptly took position at the site.

All 142 passengers and seven crew members are safe.

A thorough search operation was then initiated, involving members of the Airport Armed Police’s Bomb Disposal Unit, the K-9 team and personnel from other security agencies.

After nearly three hours of intensive search, no explosives or explosive-like objects were found.

Following the completion of the search and clearance from the relevant authorities, the flight was declared safe and departed for Kathmandu around 9pm.

Rowshan Kabir said: “Biman never compromises on safety and security—today’s incident is a clear testament to that. This exceptional event has once again demonstrated that Biman Bangladesh Airlines always gives utmost priority to passenger safety and protection.”
