Police filed a case on Tuesday over the harassment of former chief election commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda by a “mob,” with all named accused engaged in Swechhasebak Dal politics.
After analyzing video footage and other materials, police identified Sheikh Farid Hossain, president of the Dhaka north unit of the organization, and five others, according to media reports.
The case has been filed at Uttara West police station. It names Farid and the other five, along with several unidentified individuals.
On Monday night, a man named Hanif Mia was detained by the army and turned over to Uttara West police. He is the member secretary of the Swechhasebak Dal's Uttara West unit. He was shown arrested in the case and produced in court on Tuesday.
According to police, the other named accused are Dulal, president of the Swechhasebak Dal’s Turag unit; Selim, convener of the Uttara West unit; Kaiyum, joint convener of the Uttara East unit; and activist Mujammel Hossain Dhali.

Earlier, on Sunday, a group of men entered Nurul's house in Uttara, forcibly brought him out, garlanded him with shoes, and turned him over to the police.
Footage shows that police were present during the incident.
