Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has said that the extensive cleanliness drive in the capital Dhaka was completed in less than 12 hours through coordinated efforts.
"Those who keep this city clean in exchange for their sweat are our silent heroes. Clean Dhaka in less than 12 hours—this is the power of work, this is the story of dedication. They are not in campaigns, but their work is the face of the city. Deep respect to the real heroes of Eid-ul-Azha," he said.
Asif made the comment in a post on his verified Facebook page.
He wrote that the extensive cleaning program was completed in less than 12 hours with the coordinated efforts of Dhaka North and South City Corporations.
"This is not only a reflection of efficiency and effectiveness, but also real proof of the responsibility and timely action of the local government dedicated to public welfare," Asif said.
Earlier, Asif participated in the cleaning program conducted by the two city corporations of Dhaka.
The adviser expressed love and gratitude for the tireless work of about 20,000 workers of the two city corporations and appreciated the sense of responsibility shown by the city dwellers.
He thanked every cleaning hero involved in the service program and also mentioned special food and incentives arranged for them.
Asif said on the eve of the Eid-ul-Azha celebrations: "May the joy of sacrifice be healthy, clean, and environmentally friendly."
"With the coordinated efforts of the local government ministry, city corporations, municipalities, and the people, we can keep the day of Eid clean as well," he said.
On this day of sacrifice, the adviser said the responsibility of all does not end with the act of sacrifice alone; protecting the environment is also a great act of worship.
"Let us all dispose of the waste from sacrificial animals at the designated places in our respective areas and create a clean environment. A clean Bangladesh is for all of us," he said.
