Following Eid prayers, the holy Eid-ul-Azha, one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims, is being celebrated across the country as devout worshippers offer animal sacrifices according to their means in the hope of attaining the pleasure of Almighty Allah.
Devout Muslims in the capital began performing Qurbani on Saturday morning, reports Bangla Tribune.
Scenes of animal sacrifice can be seen throughout Dhaka, taking place in building garages, on roads in front of houses, and in open fields within neighborhoods.
Meanwhile, butchers are busy skinning one animal after another and preparing the meat, sharing the joy of Eid with others.
Maulana Azizul Haque, a resident of Ward 42 in Old Dhaka, told Bangla Tribune: “We offered Eid prayers at 7:30am in the morning. After returning from the Eidgah, we performed the Qurbani.”
He further said: “Qurbani is solely for the satisfaction of Allah. Allah has granted me the ability, so I am offering Qurbani. After the sacrifice, I will distribute the meat according to Islamic traditions.”
However, not everyone is performing Qurbani on Saturday, as some who have already purchased animals plan to offer their sacrifices on the second and third days of Eid.
