Dr Ahmad Abdul Quader, secretary general of Khelafat Majlis, said on Friday that the Women's Affairs Reform Commission and its report are anti-Islamic and must be immediately abolished and annulled.
The secretary general made the comment as the chief guest at a procession organized by Khelafat Majlis at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram after Jummah prayers.
The protest was held to demand the annulment of the Women's Reform Commission and its report, as well as to protest the persecution of Muslims in India.
Quader proposed the formation of a new commission comprising Islamic scholars.
He said the commission has proposed recognizing sex workers as labourers, which is completely contradictory to the values of the Muslim-majority population. He emphasized that instead of recognition, sex workers should be rehabilitated.
He also criticized the commission's demands regarding inheritance laws, labelling them objectionable.
He called for grassroots resistance across villages and towns to oppose the commission.
Quader further demanded the complete repeal of the Waqf Act in India and an end to the genocide in Gaza.
