Eid travel from Dhaka is progressing smoothly, with trains departing on time and bus terminals experiencing a relatively low footfall on Tuesday, the second day of Eid travel with tickets bought in advance.

Train trips began with the departure of the Rajshahi-bound Dhumketu Express from Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station, while the absence of a significant crowd of homebound passengers allowed travellers to leave Dhaka without hassle.

Passengers were present on every platform, and all departing trains left on time in the morning, providing relief to travellers, reports Bangla Tribune.

Meanwhile, online ticket sales for return journeys have started, with tickets for April 4 now available for purchase.

A total of 43 intercity trains and 25 mail and commuter trains were scheduled to depart from Dhaka station throughout the day.

To prevent entry without tickets and ensure a secure environment for passengers, Bangladesh Railway has implemented multiple layers of security checks and introduced special measures for Eid travel.

To enhance security at stations, major railway stations across the country are being monitored around the clock by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), local police, and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Meanwhile, the situation at the capital’s bus terminals presents a different picture.

Reports indicate that major terminals such as Mohakhali and Gabtoli are not experiencing an excessive rush of passengers.

Most ticket counters remain empty, and long-distance buses are departing with fewer passengers.

Since educational institutions are closed, many people have already travelled to their hometowns with their families in advance.

Due to the extended holiday, travellers are leaving Dhaka gradually, reducing congestion.

Transport authorities expect passenger numbers to increase over the next couple of days.
