In light of the upcoming Independence and National Day on March 26, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued traffic control guidelines for the areas surrounding Bangabhaban.
A public notice signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali was issued on Monday, providing the details.
According to the notice, on March 26, various dignitaries—including the chief adviser, the chief justice, advisers for different ministries, both domestic and foreign diplomats, and senior government officials—will visit Bangabhaban for courtesy meetings with the president.
To ensure smooth transportation for the guests arriving at Bangabhaban, the following guidelines for other vehicles operating in the vicinity will be in effect from 12pm to 5pm:
- All types of vehicles will be prohibited from travelling between Sergeant Ahad Police Box (Gulistan) and Ittefaq Mor (Toyenbee Circular Road).
- No vehicles will be allowed to enter from Aliko Gap to Dilkusha Commercial Area and Rajuk Crossing (on DIT Road).
- No vehicles will be allowed to travel towards Ittefaq Mor (Toyenbee Circular Road) from the northern end of Park Road.
- All buses from Shapla Chattar and Daily Bangla heading towards Rajuk-Gulistan will take alternative routes via Daily Bangla, UBL, and Press Club, or any other convenient detour.
- No commercial vehicles will be allowed to travel towards Rajuk from Daily Bangla.
The notice also clarified that these guidelines do not apply to the invited guests arriving at Bangabhaban.
Drivers are urged to avoid the mentioned routes and use alternative roads for convenience. The DMP expressed sincere apologies for any temporary inconvenience this traffic management may cause in the area and requested the cooperation of the public.
