The interim government will take prompt action to implement media reform proposals that are immediately feasible, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has said.

He made the statement on Saturday while receiving the Media Reform Commission’s report at the state guesthouse, Jamuna.

“We want to swiftly implement the proposals that can be executed without delay. I urge the commission to present a separate list of recommendations that can be put into action immediately,” said the Chief Adviser.

Recognizing the commission’s work as invaluable, he suggested that the report be made accessible to university journalism students and the wider public.

During the event, the commission informed the Chief Adviser that domestic television channels are required to use a specific satellite, preventing their broadcast from reaching international audiences. In response, he assured that the government would take necessary steps to ensure Bangladeshi television channels can be viewed by expatriates and foreign audiences.

Commission Chairman Kamal Ahmed, along with other members, formally handed over the report to the Chief Adviser.

The commission includes Professor Geetiara Nasreen from Dhaka University’s Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, The Financial Express Editor and Editors’ Council representative Shamsul Hoque Zahid, Maasranga Television Managing Director and Association of Television Owners (ATCO) representative Anjan Chowdhury, Newspaper Owners' Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) Secretary Akhtar Hossain Khan, former National Press Club general secretary Syed Abdal Ahmed, Jamuna Television CEO and Broadcast Journalist Center Trustee Fahim Ahmed, Media Support Network Convener journalist Jimmy Amir, The Daily Star’s Bogura District Correspondent Mostafa Sabuj, The Business Standard Deputy Editor Titu Dutta Gupta, and student representative Abdullah Al Mamun.
