Security forces implemented extensive security measures around the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and its surrounding areas in the capital on Friday, with suspicious individuals being searched, over a previously announced protest against Israeli aggression in Gaza.
These searches took place as worshipers arrived for Jummah prayers and entered the mosque, reports Bangla Tribune.
In addition to police, members of the Bangladesh Army were also stationed at the mosque's entrance.
In response to brutal Israeli attacks in Palestine and the aggression against Muslims in India, Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh's Dhaka metropolitan branch had reportedly called for a protest march after Jummah prayers.
To prevent any untoward incidents, law enforcement agencies heightened security in the area.
