BNP leader Nazrul’s wife passes away

She left behind her husband, one son and two daughters to mourn her passing

Olifa Akhter Kanta Islam, wife of BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan, passed away at a city hospital on Tuesday.

She was 70.

Kanta, who had been suffering from prolonged illness, breathed her last at the United Hospital shortly before iftar, said BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir khan.

She left behind her husband, one son, two daughters, and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her passing.

Sayrul said Kanta’s namaz-e-janaza will be held after Zuhr prayers at Banani DOHS Mosque on Wednesday.

She will be laid to rest beside the graves of her parents-in-law in Mirpur, Sayrul added.

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed their deep sorrow over her passing.

Upon receiving the news, the secretary general promptly visited the hospital to pay his respects to the deceased.

They also prayed for the salvation of her soul and extended their heartfelt condolences to the grieving family members.
