An eight-year-old child rape victim from Magura died while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.
The Bangladesh Army confirmed the matter in a Facebook post, saying despite the application of advanced medical facilities and the relentless efforts of specialist doctors at CMH, the child could not be saved.
“The child suffered three cardiac arrests in the morning; although doctors managed to stabilize the condition twice, the heart failed to restart after the third episode,” it added.
The child was admitted to CMH on March 8 in critical condition.
The army said it extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and pledged to stand by them in their time of need. It also prayed for the departed soul’s eternal peace.
