A man has been arrested over the rape of a 10-year-old child inside the capital's Baridhara diplomatic zone in Gulshan.
The incident took place on Sunday morning, prompting Gulshan police to arrest the accused Sajal Hossain Palash, 40.
Gulshan police took the child to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital for a physical examination on Monday afternoon.
Confirming the matter, Gulshan police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Nayeem Uddin Sujan said, quoting the mother of the child, that at around 11:30am on Sunday, Palash found the child alone at home and raped her after threatening her.
"Later, when the child told her mother about the matter, they came to the police station and filed these allegations."
The SI said the child's mother filed a case at Gulshan police station in this incident.
The child is currently undergoing treatment at the DMCH One Stop Crisis Center.
