It was reported on Saturday through the Bangladesh Army's verified Facebook page that 15 members of the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir had been detained on charges of extremism.
Members of the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir gathered at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Friday and, after the Jummah prayers, held a procession advancing towards the Dainik Bangla intersection.
The procession later returned and reached the Paltan intersection, where it encountered police and army barricades. When the procession attempted to break through the police barricade, they were dispersed by baton charge.
At the same time, the army detained 15 more members of Hizb ut-Tahrir from the scene and handed them over to the police.
