Update : 01 Mar 2025, 05:16 PM

An anti-discrimination coordination council has been formed with retired officials from 25 different cadres.

The council was inaugurated at the Krishibid Institution in the capital on Friday, where retired officials from various Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) cadres, except the administration cadre, were present.

On Saturday, the newly formed council’s coordinator, agriculturalist Ahmed Ali Chowdhury Iqbal, announced this through a press release.

Additionally, the council expressed solidarity with the full-day work stoppage scheduled for Sunday in protest of the temporary suspension of officials from various cadres due to discriminatory inter-cadre policies.

To demand an end to such discrimination, the council will hold a human chain at Khamarbari from 10:30am to 11:30am on Sunday.

The press release also said that retired officials from the 25 cadres across the country will join sit-in programs alongside working officials at the division, district, and upazila levels from 10:30am to 11:30am on Sunday.
