Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has expressed confidence that the youth, having made sacrifices to reclaim the nation, would similarly contribute to its reconstruction.
He made these remarks on Tuesday at the inauguration ceremony of the Festival of Youth 2025, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports at the central playground of Dhaka University.
The adviser said: “This uprising has instilled in the people of Bangladesh a vision of a new nation, and the interim government is committed to realizing that vision. The reform commissions have presented their recommendations, which will be implemented through discussions with stakeholders."
He added: "This process aims to rebuild the state institutions that were devastated during the fascist era, paving the way for Bangladesh to break free from fascist governance.”
He noted that the Festival of Youth is being celebrated across the country, recognizing the role of the youth in shaping a new national dream through the July uprising.
“They now have a crucial opportunity to contribute to the realization of that dream. In every sector, they will prove their competence and strive to compete in the modern world," he said.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, also present at the event, said: "One of the most damaging aspects of divisive and extremist politics is how it pits key institutions against each other—NGOs against public administration, NGOs against universities. This has harmed us immensely."
He further said: "There is no turning back; we stand on the foundation of our sacrifices. No matter how many obstacles arise, Bangladesh has risen. We have witnessed enough division—no more.”
