Candidates recommended for the post of assistant teachers in government primary schools under the third phase of recruitment (Dhaka and Chittagong divisions) have staged a protest in front of the Secretariat following the cancellation of their appointments.
Despite 6,531 candidates being recommended for recruitment in October last year, the High Court ruled on Thursday morning to nullify the results due to issues with the quota system.
The verdict was delivered by a bench comprising Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi.
Following the court’s decision, the affected candidates gathered peacefully in front of the Secretariat, holding banners.
In response, all gates of the Secretariat were closed at around 12:45pm.
Additional Commissioner of Police in-charge of Secretariat security Farhana Mridha told Samakal: "They arrived and sat in front of the main gate around 12:45pm. Considering the situation, the gates were closed. Discussions are underway at a higher level of the Ministry of Education."
