A total of 98 new books hit the stalls of Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 on Wednesday, the fifth day of the fair.
Of the newly published books, 13 are stories, while 18 are novels, six are essays, 33 are poems, four are research works, two are children's literature, two are biographies, one is an essay, three are plays, two are science books, one is a travel book, two are history books, two are on politics, one is on treatment/health, one is on language, one is on religion, and one is a translation. These books were showcased in the stalls, a press release said.

Litterateur Shahid Iqbal presided over the discussion, while litterateur Ahmed Mawla presented an article.
Terming Hosseinuddin Hossain an extraordinary writer, Shahid Iqbal said that although Hosseinuddin began his literary career with poetry, he left a bright mark of his talent in the field of prose.
"The imprint of intelligence and mindfulness is clear in his writing," Iqbal said, adding that Hosseinuddin practiced honesty and dedication throughout his life.
At the 'Lekhak Bolchi Monch’, poet Rezauddin Stalin, writer, and essayist Shibli Azad took part in the discussion on their new books.
A cultural programme featured poetry recitations by poets Atahar Khan and Alamgir Hussain, while the evening’s cultural segment included musical performances by artists Bulbul Islam, Md Arifur Rahman, Taposi Roy, Papri Barua, Farah Hasan Moutushi, Md Harunur Rashid, Kamal Ahmed, and Nusrat Binte Noor.
This year, the fair hosts 99 stalls on the premises of Bangla Academy and 609 stalls at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan.
A total of 708 publishers are participating in the fair, compared to 642 last year.
Visitors can visit the fair from 3:00pm to 9:00pm every day. On holidays, it will remain open from 11:00am.
The fair also features 37 pavilions—one at Bangla Academy and 36 at Suhrawardy Udyan. A space designated for little magazines has been set up near the open stage of Suhrawardy Udyan.
The theme for this year's book fair is "July Gono Obbhuthyan: Notun Bangladesh Binirman" (The July Uprising: Rebuilding a New Bangladesh).
