Injured protesters of the July uprising on Sunday evening left Shyamoli in the capital and began their march toward Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus's official residence, the State Guest House Jamuna, to press home their demands.

Earlier, at around 10:30pm the previous day, the injured protesters started a demonstration by blocking the road in front of the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) and the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital in Agargaon.

They stayed there throughout the night and continued their blockade on Mirpur Road in Shyamoli from Sunday morning until the evening, demanding recognition and rehabilitation.

Mizanur Rahman, one of the injured protesters, said: “We have been protesting on the streets for the past 24 hours for our rightful demands. We are sick and injured, yet we have come out onto the streets to plead with the government for our rights.

"Despite this, we have not received any response from the authorities. Since our road blockade is causing inconvenience and suffering to the general public, we have decided to leave the road."

He added: "Now, with the Management Information Service (MIS) or verification certificate copies provided by the government, we are heading toward the chief adviser’s residence. We want a resolution there.”

Another injured protester, Tanoy, said: “I cannot understand why the state is neglecting us. We have been protesting on the streets from last night until this evening. Yet, we have received no response from the government. Now, we are going to the chief adviser’s residence to submit our demands in writing. We hope that he will at least consider our plea and not leave us stranded on the streets.”
