The students of Government Titumir College obstructed both sides of the road in front of the college using bamboo, causing severe disruptions to traffic and immense inconvenience to the public.

For five consecutive days, the students have been observing a hunger strike as part of their demonstration to demand the establishment of the institution as an independent university, along with six other demands.

Simultaneously, their protests and road blockades are ongoing.

The hunger strike began on Wednesday, with several students gathering in front of the main gate of the campus.

As a result of prolonged fasting, seven students have been hospitalized in various medical facilities across the capital, including two who were admitted Saturday.

The two students admitted Saturday, to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital are Mofizul Islam from the Department of Botany and Abu Naim from the Department of Bengali.

Additionally, the health conditions of nine other fasting students have started to deteriorate, necessitating the administration of saline.

To monitor their health, a medical team comprising one doctor and two nurses has been assigned there.
