A clash over the formation of a committee for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement left three people injured.

The incident occurred at the movement's central office at Banglamotor Rupayan Centre in Dhaka around 10:30pm on Friday.

The injured, Nahian, 16, Roni, 21, and Safran, 22, are students of Mirpur’s Manipur School and College.

The injured were admitted to the emergency department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital.

Zahid Ahsan, secretary of the central committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said: "Some individuals came to our central office at night and pressured us to include them in the committee. They attempted to force their inclusion. However, they do not align with our ideology, so we could not accommodate them. The situation escalated during the argument, leading to a scuffle among our central leaders and activists."

According to insiders, the conflict stemmed from disagreements over the recently formed Mirpur committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Allegations of extortion and affiliation with the ruling party's student wing, Chhatra League, had disqualified some aspirants. Frustrated by their exclusion and lack of desired positions, tensions boiled over on Friday evening.

The situation grew heated as aspirants confronted central office members. Despite closing the office around 8pm to prevent further trouble, the tension persisted. By late evening, the argument turned violent, resulting in a 20-minute clash that left several injured.

The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at BSMMU.

The central committee had announced the Mirpur committee for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on Thursday, covering seven police station areas. Since its announcement, the committee has faced criticism and controversy, culminating in Friday's confrontation.
