Two factory workers died in their sleep due to the gas from bed bug repellent in Kamrangirchar, Dhaka.
The deceased were identified as Abu Bakar Siddiq Naeem, 21 and Mohammad Mohon, 12, both workers at a Rexine Ladies Bag manufacturing factory.
Kamrangirchar police sub-inspector (SI) Mohammad Musa said that on Saturday, they received news of the deaths and found the bodies in a room on the lower floor of Shahidullah’s house in Sadhan Villa, Coalghat.
The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy after legal procedures.
The police officer said: "On the night of January 3rd, the factory used cockroach repellent in different areas of the room. After having dinner, the two workers closed the doors and windows and went to sleep. The next day, Naeem's relative Riaz went to check on him after receiving no response and found them lying on the mattress. They immediately informed the police."
The police said that the cause of death, whether from the be bug repellent gas or another factor, would be confirmed after the autopsy report.
Abu Bakar Siddiq Naeem was from the 6th ward of Durga Pur, Begumganj, Noakhali and Mohammad Mohon was from the same area.
