The General Manager of the Dhaka Division Office of Rupali Bank, Ismail Hossain Sheikh, has said that a gang of robbers entered the Rupali Bank branch in Chunkutia, South Keraniganj, posing as customers.
He said that three thieves, who later surrendered, entered the bank pretending to be customers.
They then attempted to rob money by holding toy guns to the bank staff and taking them hostage.
He shared this information with reporters after inspecting the bank on Thursday night at 7:20pm.
The GM clarified that no money was stolen from the bank, and no customer deposits were lost.
He confirmed that banking operations at this branch would resume as usual starting Sunday.
The senior official further mentioned that when the thieves attacked, there were a total of six customers in the bank, all of whom are safe.
At the time, there were seven bank staff members, including one office assistant and two fire guards.
Everyone is in good health.
The bank's cash was thoroughly counted, and not a single penny was missing.
