3 wounded by gunfire in Dhaka

‘The injured were treated at DMCH’

Three people were injured in separate incidents involving gunfire by miscreants in the Kadamtoli and Badda areas of the capital.

The incidents occurred late on Saturday night, according to Inspector Md Faruk of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost.

The injured individuals are Md Monir, 45, Md Al Amin, 40, and Saiful Islam, 32. Monir and Al Amin are security guards at a rod factory in the Dhaka Mess area of Kadamtoli, while Saiful is the son of Shafiqul Islam from South Badda.

Regarding the injured security guards, their supervisor Md Sabuj said: “Monir and Al Amin were on duty at the factory on Saturday night. Around 1:45am, they heard a noise on the street and proceeded with a torchlight to investigate. A person then opened fire at them, injuring both in the legs. They were rescued and taken to DMCH at approximately 3:15am.”

In another incident, around 9:15pm in West Merul Badda, businessman Saiful Islam was injured by gunfire from an unidentified individual. The bullet struck his right thigh.

He was taken to DMCH for initial treatment and later transferred to the Orthopaedic Hospital the same night.

Monir Hossain, injured Saiful's brother, said: "We have no idea who might have shot him or why."

Md Faruk said: "The injured were treated at DMCH. Two were discharged after receiving initial treatment, while the other was referred to the Orthopaedic Hospital."
