The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued an eight-month-old baby who was abducted during a robbery at the medical staff quarters in Azimpur, Dhaka.
The child was recovered from the Mohammadpur area of the capital after RAB detained a woman suspected of involvement in the crime.
The baby has since been reunited with the parents. However, the stolen valuables, including cash and gold ornaments, have yet to be recovered.
RAB shared the update in a press release on Saturday morning, adding that the detained woman confessed to her role in the robbery during an initial interrogation.
Lt Col Munim Ferdous, director of RAB's Legal and Media Wing, is scheduled to hold a press conference at the RAB Media Centre in Kawran Bazar at 12:30pm to provide further details.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon at the home of government official Farzana Akhtar, located next to Lalbagh Tower.
Armed robbers entered the residence, looted money and jewellery, and kidnapped Farzana’s infant daughter at gunpoint.
Further investigation is ongoing.
