A fire broke out at a mini garment factory producing socks and children’s winter clothing in Savar, Dhaka, and was brought under control by two units of the Savar Fire Service after about an hour and a half.
The fire began around 11:30pm on Tuesday, and after sustained efforts, was fully contained by around 1am.
Md Nurul Islam, senior station officer at Savar Fire Service, said that the fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
“We received the information around 11:30pm, and after an hour and a half of work, the fire was completely under control. We are currently assessing the extent of the damage with the factory owner,” he added.
The exact damage is yet to be determined.
