A case has been filed following an incident at the Durga Puja mandap in Tanti Bazar, Dhaka, where an alleged cocktail bomb was thrown and stab wounds from attackers injured five people.
The police lodged the case on Saturday at Kotwali police station.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali police station, Md Enamul Hasan, confirmed the details of the case on Sunday. He said: “A case has been filed under Section 392 of the Penal Code for mugging.”
He added: “Another case will be filed on behalf of those who were injured while trying to catch the muggers and recover the bomb.”
He also mentioned that the three arrested individuals have been sent to court, and the remand hearing is scheduled for Sunday.
On Friday night, during the Maha Ashtami celebrations, a bomb-like object was thrown at the Puja mandap in Tanti Bazar.
At the same time, the attackers stabbed several people indiscriminately, leaving five injured.
Among the injured, some were hurt in the hands, neck, and chest.
With the help of locals, the police arrested three of the attackers from the scene.
The arrested individuals are Akash, 23, Hridoy, 23, and Jibon, 19.
