The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Md Jahangir Alam, former secretary of the Election Commission and later the home ministry, in Gulshan, Dhaka.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the information on Tuesday.
Earlier, on August 14, the government sent Jahangir into mandatory retirement.
