Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmed, former vice president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu), from the immigration section of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Mansur was detained on Monday morning upon his return from Canada.
The matter was confirmed by the Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Rezaul Karim Mallik.
He said: "Mansur has been detained by immigration for questioning based on certain allegations. We will interrogate him and verify the nature of these allegations."
Family sources, however, said that Sultan Mansur had been travelling to the UK, US, and Canada for an extended period. They emphasized that he had been abroad long before the recent student movement and that there was no case against him at this time.
