The university administration announced the changes through a notice signed by acting registrar ABM Azizur Rahman on Thursday night.

In the reformed committee, Professor Muhammad Tarek Chowdhury of the Philosophy Department has been appointed as the chair, while Deputy Registrar Abu Taleb has been named the member secretary.

Other members of the committee include Professor Dr ANM Fakhruddin of the Department of Environmental Science, Associate Professor Mahmudur Rahman of the Department of Public Administration, Associate Professor Dr Md Ariful Haque of the Department of Marketing, Associate Professor Kamrul Hasan of the Department of Government and Politics, Professor Dr Md Emran Jahan of the Department of History, Associate Professor Amina Islam of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies.

Notably, Professor Swadhin Sen of the Archaeology Department, Professor Anisha Parvin of the History Department, and Deputy Registrar (Higher Education and Scholarships) Md Lutfur Rahman Arif, who were part of the previous investigation committee, have been excluded from the reformed team.

Earlier, Professor Anisha Parvin had expressed her inability to continue as a member of the previous committee, and Professor Swadhin Sen, the former chair, stepped down citing personal reasons, according to acting registrar ABM Azizur Rahman.

The reconstituted committee has been tasked with identifying those responsible for ordering and carrying out the attack on Shamim Molla and submitting a report with recommendations for punishment within the next 15 working days.

Previously, a six-member committee was formed on September 19 to investigate the murder of Shamim Molla and submit a report with recommendations.
