A case has been filed against 4,114 Ansar members at the capital's Paltan Model police station on charges of illegal assembly and obstructing police work.

The case was lodged by Sub-Inspector Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan of Paltan police station on Monday.

Among the accused, 114 individuals have been named explicitly, and 95 Ansar members have already been arrested. The arrestees will be produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka.

Paltan police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mollah Md Khalid Hossain confirmed the information, adding: "This case has been filed against 4,000 Ansar members, including 114 who have been named."

Earlier, on Sunday night, Ansar members blocked officials and employees of the Secretariat until 9pm.

Following a call from coordinators, students arrived to remove the Ansar personnel from the Secretariat.

At that time, a confrontation ensued at gates two and three of the Secretariat, leading to clashes between Ansar members and students.

The students later organized a procession, surrounding the Secretariat area.

Additional police, BGB, and army personnel were deployed to control the situation.

Most of the Ansar members fled the Secretariat following the clash, particularly after the deployment of water cannons.

More than 300 Ansar members were subsequently taken into police custody and transferred to various police stations, including Shahbagh, Ramna, Paltan, and Motijheel.

Those arrested at the Secretariat gate were transported to the police stations in prison vans until 2:30am.
