Students conducted a search late on Wednesday at the residence of Jahangir Kabir Nanak, a member of the Awami League's presidium and former minister of textiles and jute, suspecting there might be weapons there.

They conducted the raid on the first and second floors of the eight-storey building on Haji Chinu Mia Lane, near Shyamoli Ring Road in the Mohammadpur area.

Later, members of law enforcement took control of the house.

According to witnesses, military personnel were present along with the students. However, they left the scene after an hour.

Earlier, students began monitoring the house, suspecting that Nanak might be present. To ensure that no looting occurred, a team of military personnel arrived at the scene to maintain order.

The students said they had conducted the search suspecting that weapons might be stored at Nanak's residence and that even he might be hiding there.

However, no weapons were found inside the house.
