Traffic advisory: Roads to avoid on Awami League’s 75th anniversary Sunday

The 75th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Awami League is being observed on Sunday, with a rally organized at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka. 

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend a discussion at 2:15pm at Suhrawardy Udyan.

On this occasion, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division will regulate traffic on several roads in the capital. 

Certain roads near Suhrawardy Udyan will be closed or have traffic diverted to accommodate the movement of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other VIPs.

Road closures and limited traffic

Traffic will be restricted at the following locations:

• Hotel Intercontinental Crossing
• Shahbagh Crossing
• Katabon Crossing
• TSC
• Doel Chattar
• Matsya Bhaban Crossing

The DMP has advised city dwellers to avoid these areas and use alternative routes.

Car parking areas

The DMP has designated specific areas for parking vehicles for those attending the public meeting. Parking will be available on both sides of the road in the following locations:

• Dhaka University Gymnasium Field
• Mohsin Hall Field
• Fuller Road area
