Hatirpool fire brought under control

  • The fire originates on the second floor of a six-storey building
  • Seven firefighting units work to douse the fire

The fire that broke out in a building near the kitchen market of Hatirpool in the capital just before iftar on Thursday, was brought under control.

The fire originated on the second floor of the six-storey building at 6:04pm, according to fire service sources.

The fire was brought under control at 8:35pm. 

Seven firefighting units worked to douse the fire. 

Besides, a team from the Bangladesh Navy joined to bring the fire under control.

The building houses a carpet warehouse.

The firefighters rescued four people from the roof of the building.


As there are no windows in the building, the firefighters were forced to break down walls to enter the building. 

The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
