An art camp for individuals with special needs was organized by the Child Foundation in collaboration with Dhaka University Faculty of Fine Arts on Friday.
Individuals of all ages participated in the art camp, without any competition or age restrictions.
The primary objective of this yearly event is to celebrate their artistic talents and encourage social connections.
Around 50 individuals participated in the camp, which began at 1:30pm on a long balcony at the Faculty of Fine Art.
Each participant appeared content with their chosen colours and papers. Some of them have drawn the Shaheed Minar and others drawn Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
A third-grade student named Raisa proudly showed her artwork, attaching it to her clipboard.
She shared: "I just finished my drawing. I enjoy drawing very much."
Shihab, a fourth-grade student, drew a stunning landscape. His mother Shahida said: “He has a passion for drawing. He was very excited to be present in this setting.”
Artist and Cartoonist Rafiqun Nabi was present at the camp and talked about the camp.
He said: “The individuals who are painting today, they are doing great. The art pieces are so beautiful. I wish all the children the best and also I would like to thank the foundation for such a great initiative.”
Through these amazing art pieces from the special individuals, the foundation gets some amount which is being invested for the special and underprivileged children.
Artist Monirul Islam said: “I would like to thank you for organizing such a camp. This is a very special day for them. This event should continue further.”
Anowara Aana Aman, secretary general of Child foundation said: “The amount we are getting from the arts of these special individuals, we are investing for the special and underprivileged children in our society. I would like to thank everyone who is supporting us for this art camp. Please keep supporting us like this.”
Nisar Hossain, the dean of Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka said: “It is heartening to witness the art pieces created by these special individuals being sold just like any other product in the market. The proceeds from the sale are given to their families, which helps these special children feel valued within their families. This feeling is something only family members can understand and appreciate.”
