A man was killed when a steel frame from the under-construction Dhaka Elevated Expressway fell on him in the Moghbazar area in the capital on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Matiur Rahman, 50, a street hawker, hailing from Ashuganj in Brahmanbaria.
Officer-in-Charge of Hatirjheel police station Awlad Hossain, confirmed the matter.
The accident took place around 9am when he was walking in Dilu Road area to sell hand towels
Suddenly, a piece of steel fell on Matiur, leaving him critically injured, said the OC.
Later, the injured was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed at Hatirjheel police station regarding the matter, added the police official.
On May 29 last year, a 12-year-old boy died after an iron rod fell on him from the under-construction Dhaka Elevated Expressway in the capital's Mohakhali area.
