The body of the wife of a police constable was recovered from Motijheel AGB Colony area in the capital on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Hamida Akhtar.
Police said that she died after jumping off from the ninth floor of a building in the colony.
Motijheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter.
She was a mentally challenged and was undergoing treatment. The deceased's mother also resided in their flat. Her father died years ago. Her husband is on deputation at the Ministry of Home Affairs, said the OC.
On information, Sub-inspector Fatema Khatun rescued her and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital's emergency department at 11am.
Following the inspection, the doctor on duty pronounced her dead.
The body was kept at DMCH morgue for post-mortem.
