The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two people in a case filed over a shooting that left three people injured in Tangail Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
The arrestees are Faruq Hossain, 40, and Kamrul, 34–both residents of Tangail Sadar upazila.
Tipped off, a team of RAB-14 conducted a raid in the capital's Uttara area on Monday night and arrested them, said Imran Khan, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) at the legal and media wing of RAB.
During preliminary interrogation, they admitted to being involved in the shooting, he added.
According to the case statement, four to five persons, including victims Rokon, Emdad and Siam, were returning home after election campaigning around 11pm on Sunday.
When they arrived in Tangail's Kathua Jogni area, a gang of armed men led by Faruq and Kamrul opened fire on them, injuring three people.
After being rescued, they were initially brought to a Tangail hospital by locals.
Later, they were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment as their condition had deteriorated.
A case was filed at Tangail Sadar police station against six named and 20/25 unnamed people
Further legal action will be taken against the arrestees, said the RAB official.
