  • Everything going on normally
Update : 28 Oct 2023, 03:32 PM

Though the presence of public transport and other vehicles on some streets was relatively thin compared to other days in large parts of Dhaka due to political rallies of BNP and Awami League, the scenario was found completely different in Gulshan and Banani on Saturday.

Commuters in the capital have been suffering due to the public transportation crisis since morning.

Along with this, tensions escalated surrounding the two big parties’ programs, causing immense commuting woes in some parts of Dhaka.

However, everything is going on normally in other parts.

Due to the lack of public transport, the pressure of private vehicles was witnessed on streets in Gulshan 1 and 2, Banani and surrounding areas.

In other areas of the capital, Awami League leaders and activists have taken a vigilant presence in lanes and local areas but no such presence of political activists in Gulshan and Banani areas.

During a visit, it was found that there were many private cars even though there was no public transport on the roads.

Traffic signals are being maintained like other days at Gulshan-1 and 2 Gol Chattar areas. Rickshaws and CNGs are also plying inside residential areas.

Besides, the shops and kitchen markets are also found open like a normal day.

When asked about this, Gulshan Traffic Division Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Hafizur Rahman said that owners of public transports did not take out their vehicles due to the political rallies and large gathering in the capital.

Although there is no public transport in the Gulshan area, the traffic is normal with private cars and other means of transport, he added.
