Persistent rainfall for nearly three hours has inundated various parts of Dhaka city on Thursday.

As a consequence, commuters are grappling with transportation woes and severe traffic congestion.

The situation is dire in the capital’s Mirpur area, as several streets, including Mirpur-10, have waist-deep water.

The water also entered private vehicles, and CNG-run autorickshaws traveling along the main road, leading to numerous instances of engine damage and breakdowns.

Apart from Mirpur, residents of Mirpur, Dhanmondi, Elephant Road, Malibagh, Bailey Road, Shantinagar, Banani, Tejgaon, and Khamar Bari have also reported flooding in the areas.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over the eight divisions across Bangladesh.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, centre of the low to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.
